    Lychee Scientifically called as "Litchi chinensis”. Lychee is a tropical and subtropical fruit tree native to Southern China and Southeast Asia and now cultivated in many parts of the world. The Lychee is mainly cultivated in China, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, Bangladesh, and northern India. South Africa and the United States (Hawaii and Florida) also have Lychee production. The outside portion of Lychee fruit is pink-red, roughly textured and inedible, covering sweet flesh portion inside. The edible portion of the Lychee is a white to cream-colored translucent pulp surrounding a glossy brown seed.
    Grown in India: In India, Lychee is grown in the states of Bihar, Tripura, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Haryana. Bihar state contributes 74% of the total production of Lychee in India. The second-largest Lychee producing state is West Bengal followed by Assam and Tripura. In Tamil, it is called as “Laichi pazham”
